For many people, perfume has long been an indispensable element, helping them express themselves daily and adding a significant dose of self-confidence to their lives. Choosing the scents that will accompany us during priceless moments and when celebrating important milestones is a very individual matter.

Fortunately, nowadays the perfume industry is so developed that the choice is definitely wide.

When looking for the perfect fragrance that will suit our taste, we come across many names on labels that we have certainly heard of, but we often do not know their specificity or the features that distinguish given products from each other.

Perfume, cologne, eau de parfum, or perhaps eau de toilette? What do these terms mean, and how can they influence your decision to choose the perfect scent? We're here to explain!

What is the scent that envelops your skin really like?

In everyday language, we call all the familiar and familiar scents we readily buy "perfumes." However, this terminology can be misleading, as perfumes are a specific type of scented water.

The main and crucial division of such products is based on the concentration of ingredients found in the fragranced waters. This primarily determines their durability, which is of paramount importance.

Division of scented waters, what is hidden behind specific names and what you use…

We will be happy to explain the classification of scented waters based on the concentration of fragrance substances and the specific characteristics of each type.

  • Refreshing Water (Eau Fraîche): 0% - 3%
Known as "body mist," it's especially popular in the summer due to its refreshing properties. It's certainly an ideal product for hot days, and thanks to its low concentration of fragrance oils, its price is affordable.
  • Eau de Cologne: 3% - 5%
They typically contain ingredients such as citrus fruits. They aren't very long-lasting, lasting only a short time on the skin. Their primary purpose is to refresh.
  • Eau de Toilette: 5% - 10%, max 12%
Most often, this is a diluted eau de parfum formula, which is cheaper and more long-lasting than previous types.
  • Eau de Parfum: 10% - 15%, max 18%
This item is intended for everyday use due to the fact that its scent is not heavy, and it is also widely available in popular drugstores, often at an affordable price.
  • Perfume (Parfum/ Perfume): 20% - 40%

The most long-lasting formula among scented waters. It is characterized by the highest intensity. However, it is not the most popular product type, as its price is higher than the above-mentioned products and its availability is much narrower.

Now you know how fragrances are classified based on the concentration of their ingredients, which determines the product's durability and intensity.
